Sophie Buitendyk and Ivan Luo Win a Tour de Bloc 17

It will likely be one of the last comps until the spring due to the coronavirus outbreak

While massive changes are taking place around the world to stop the coronavirus outbreak, including a shut down of major events, Tour de Bloc 17 took place in Victoria this weekend. It was a great comp with some difficult boulders. In the end, Sophie Buitendyk and Ivan Luo took the top spots

The 17-year-old major Canadian comp circuit limited the crowd size and set out guidelines to spectators and athletes to stay as clean as possible. Before the comp, they stated: BoulderHouse providing and requiring all participants to use alcohol based liquid chalk (above 60%), to act as a sanitizer. BoulderHouse we will be disinfecting the start holds and high use holds during the change over of categories. BoulderHouse asks that spectators refrain from being present during qualifiers. BoulderHouse is limiting the amount of spectators to 40 for finals and only family and close friends.
