Two Eight-Time Champs at ABS 15

Daniel Woods and Alex Puccio won their eighth titles at the 15th American Bouldering Society national championships.

Some of America’s top boulderers gathered in Colorado Springs to compete at ABS 15. An exciting finish kept the audience on the edge of their seat. Men’s problem number four shut down all athletes except for Woods who cruised it to the top and fell, then sent on the next go, “This is the first time I have sent all four problems in the ABS finals,” said Woods. Puccio, like most of the women in finals, had a hard time with the initial dyno-double-bump, but stuck it on her last go, the classic one-hand grab. She then climbed to the top, where the competition winner Julian Wurm had climbed to on her first burn but fell. Lots of great energy and the routes had good style, a great comp.

Julian Wurm won for the women, but since she is not an American she can not win the national title. Puccio placed second and therefore won the title. For complete results visit the ABS website.
