Will Bosi Sending Return of the Sleepwalker V17

A send film was just released for one of the biggest ascents so far this year

On February 19, Will Bosi made the second ascent of Return of the Sleepwalker V17 (9A) in Red Rock, Nevada. Established by Daniel Woods in March 2021, ROTSW was the United States’ first V17. The problem is a sit-start version of Sleepwalker, a V15/16 put up by Jimmy Webb in 2019. Bosi just released a new film about his ROTSW send, which you can watch below.

Bosi sent ROTSW after just 12 sessions of effort. A month prior to sending the problem, he made quick work of stand-start Sleepwalker, taking only three sessions and suggesting a downgrade from V16 to V15. While in Red Rock, Bosi flashed a series of V11 and V12 problems, including Lethal Design V12, Wet Dream V12, Peter and the Wolf V11, and Burnt V11.

“Psyched out my mind,” said Bosi after sending ROTSW. “Coming on this trip with no expectations and struggling with the bad weather has been a massive challenge but somehow it all came together 30 minutes before another rain day.”

Bosi is one of the best boulderers in the world. He now has three V17s to his name: Shawn Raboutou’s Alphane, Nalle Hukkataival’s Burden of Dreams, and Woods’ ROTSW. He’s also sent two V16s: a first ascent of Honey Badger in the Peak District and a repeat of Ephyra in Chironico. He’s climbed many V15s, including four last year – Nova, Ultra Instinct, Isles of Wonder Sit, and Wild South.
