Extreme Skiers Die on Chilean Volcano

Juan Señoret and Christophe "Tof" Henry died in an avalanche descending the steep north face of Volcán Puntiagudo

Two veteran big mountain skiers have died while attempting to descend Volcán Puntiagudo in the Chilean Andes. Juan Señoret of Chile and Christophe “Tof” Henry of France were caught in an avalanche earlier this month.

Señoret and Henry were descending the north face when the accident took place. Tof was considered the fastest skier of Chamonix, a town known for having some of the best backcountry skiers in the world. Señoret and his brother Cristobel were on the Piolets d’Or 2022 short list of alpine accomplishments for their new route on Cerro Catedral in Torres del Paine.

The two had skied together before, including down the complicated Psyco Colmillo on Colmillo Del Diablo in Patagonia. Our condolences go to the family and friends of Señoret and Henry.
