Indoor Climbing Walls Become Video Game

Time Trial is a new interactive rock climbing video game produced by Randori and hosted at Brooklyn Boulders.

Players are given the opportunity to compete in a dynamic setting featuring augmented reality on a climbing wall. You have never seen anything quite like this before.

The game was produced by Jon Cheng of the coding company Randori.  All it takes is a projector, a camera and a laptop and targets are projected on the wall.

Climbers must hit the target that makes a noise. The projection keeps time until the climber finishes.

Since the game began, Cheng said he has received requests for the product from gyms around the world.

In 2014, Aalto University in Finland made a similar game that had climbers dodging animated obstacles as they climb.

This new Augmented Reality uses images, sound or GPS to add a digital element to real life. Google Glasses uses the same technology.

It looks like it combines the climbing game Add On with Twister and a timer. Awesome.
