Rare Ascent of Irish Sea Stack by Iain Miller and Paulina Kaniszewska

The Dún Briste sea stack is at Downpatrick Head in Ireland. Iain Miller and Paulina Kaniszewska recently made what could be the second ascent. The 60-metre tall stack was attached to Ireland’s coast until 1393. The first ascent was in 1990 by Mick Fowler, Steve Sustad and Nikki Duggan. The North Atlantic Ocean is dangerous and has kept would-be repeaters away from approaching the pillar. Iain Miller and Paulina Kaniszewsk used a small inflatable dingy to paddle across. They climbed a new route up the west face, instead of the original up the north.
