Watch Gabriele Moroni Send Ambrosia V11 in Bishop

Gabriele Moroni repeated Ambrosia V11 in Bishop earlier this month. The well-known 15-metre tall highball up the Grandpa Peabody boulder was first climbed in 2009 by Kevin Jorgeson. The problem follows crimps and shallow pockets far above the ground. A number of top climbers have repeated it, including Jorg Verhoeven, Enzo Oddo, Alex Honnold and Isaac Caldiero.

On Instagram, Moroni wrote, “Thursday was supposed to be a good day, not too cold or cloudy. When me and Alex Khazanov got to the Buttermilks, we were both psyched for our projects. After the warm up, grey clouds started to roll in togeether with a very strong but strangely warm wind… Once back on the ground I finally pull the rope down and started to think, am I ready?

Is it the right thing to do in this moment? Is the wind too strong? What if I get numb on the final section? Then, something clicked inside and I knew I was ready. Leaving the ground I knew I was going to do it, no fears, no doubts, no regrets, just pure happiness and fun. Climbing Ambrosia felt effortless, I was in my bubble flowing in the air…” Watch Moroni send Ambrosia below.
