Watch Jon Griffith and Andy Houseman’s Link Sar Climb in Karakorum

In July 2015, U.K. climbers Andy Houseman and Jon Griffith travelled to Charakusa Valley in Pakistan and made the first ascent of Link Sar West.

The 6,938-metre summit took Griffith and various partners three years to reach. Griffith and Houseman’s route Fever Pitch climbs the northwest face.

On July 17, after spending a night at over 6,800 metres, Griffith fell ill with a severe fever. After some time recovering, they eventually made their way to the west summit of Link Sar. Hoping to continue to the main summit, but not wanting to push their luck with Griffith’s fever coming and going, they opted out of attempting the main summit.

They then descended for nearly 2,500 metres down the unexplored south face. It took them seven days to return to camp on the Charakusa Glacier.
