Watch George Hurley, 82, Lead Steep Ice Route

Watch longtime climber George Hurley, 82, lead Within Reason at the Hanging Garden in Frankenstein Cliff at Crawford Notch, New Hampshire. Over the past few decades, Hurley made the first ascents of a number of ice routes.

He was partners with many great climbers over the years, such as the late Layton Korr. In the early 1960s, Hurley was in National Geographic after his first ascent of The Titan in Utah with Korr and Huntley Ingalls.
