Andrew Funk Sends New Rockies 5.13

Andrew Funk has been putting his strong comp strength to the test the past year with a focus on hard sport routes. On the same day Alex Megos was climbing Canada’s first 5.15 at Ravens Crag, Funk was busy making his own first ascent. At the Lookout in Echo Canyon, Funk sent a Lloyd King project called Super Mega Destroyer in three goes.

On Sendage.com the route is described by Funk as, “Three bolts of 5.11- climbing to a no hands. Deal with a strenuous slab sequence, take a quick shake, and launch into the crux boulder problem featuring a high heel-toe cam or a high drop-knee toe cam, clip and do a few tricky foot moves to get into a moderate shake. Continue up a cool lay-back crack sequence into some amazing rock and some easy climbing over the bulge to the chains.”
