Watch a Massive Rockfall on Piz Cengalo in Switzerland

The Sciora hut Facebook page posted the following video by Anna Vaninetti of a large rockfall on Piz Cengalo. In 2011 and 2012, large rockfalls were reported on PlanetMountain.com, which you can read about here. “It’s continuing,” the 2012 story reads.

“Those mountains which crown Valle Bondasca were formerly believed to be solid giants of compact, quality granite. But once again a rockfall has taken place on Cengalo.” A number of classic alpine rock routes were damaged in the previous rockfalls and in the one that occurred on Sept. 9, 2016.
