Evan Hau Climbs Out Planet X With Recent 5.14+

Evan Hau has made the first repeat ascent of an Alex Megos route at Planet X in Cougar Creek in Canmore.

Iron Butterfly 5.14c/d was a long-time project at the steep wall until Megos sent it in 2016 during his month-long visit to the Canadian Rockies.

With the send, Hau has now climbed every route at Planet X, which includes his own new route Magician’s Apprentice 5.14a from 2017.

Other 5.14s at Planet X (meant to be pronounced Planet Ten but given the Roman numeral “X” for ten): The Prestige 5.14c, Kurrgo 5.14a and The Illusionist 5.14a.

Iron Butterfly. 14c/d. Super stoked on this one! Super intricate and technical climb, not my usual jam. I've tried it off and on for a number of years but never really got stoked on it until @alexandermegos freed it in 2016. Managed to put it down pretty quick this year. Now I've ticked all of Planet X (again) but I'm already eyeing up some new lines to open! So much potential. Great start to the season!
