Watch History of Drytooling and Hard Alps Sends

Watch clips of mixed climbing in the European Alps including an ascent of the North Face of the Drus. This movie talks about the history, evolution and future of the drytooling. “You will also see how much excitement dry tooling can bring. Dry-tooling now allows to free-climb some routes which were impossible to climb without aid in the past.

“To make this documentary worth it, we have spent two intense years of filming. From Chamonix to Italy, but also in Grenoble and in so many other places, we traveled a lot. We were looking for the most astonishing routes, awesome landscapes. Even though you may not be a climber, we wanted to make a film that you will enjoy watching.

“In fact, this movie is not just about dry-tooling, but it also aims at showing many dimensions of mountains, through the multiple aspects of current alpine winter mountaineering. It is the history of the evolution of the alpine practice through dry-tooling.”

A side view taken yesterday by @michellekadatz (on my camera while I was climbing) of @pete.hoang contemplating the risks of climbing onto the massive hanging ice dagger on Scar Tissue. The dry creaky ice was suggesting to the team that it’d be better to retreat, than to push on. This can sometimes be a tough decision, but respect to them for erring on the side of caution. I think the route should be a more reasonable endeavour once the dagger breaks, which would leave it in more or less the same condition as last year when it received about ten ascents. Currently, I’m pretty sure the last 2 or 3 bolts are iced over. Stoked to see this attempted anyways! @arcteryx @petzl_official
