He's only the seventh climber to free the route
On Nov. 11, Belgian climber Séb Berthe became only the seventh person to free climb The Nose, one of the world’s most famous routes. The 1,000-metre route is rated at 5.14a.
Berthe also became the 1st person ever to free climb the route ground up. Directed, produced and shot by Alexandre Eggermont. The first ascent of The Nose was in 1958 by Warren Harding, Wayne Merry and George Whitmore, who spent 47 days over a number of years working their way up. Lynn Hill made the first free ascent in 1993 and again in 1994.
