Watch Epic Rockfall Narrowly Miss Climbers on Spantik
Nothing was going to stop this huge boulder on its way down
Spantik is a mountain in Spantik-Sosbun Mountains subrange of Karakoram in Nagar Valley, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Its northwest face features a classic hard route known as the Golden Pillar.
Spantik was first climbed in 1955 by Karl Kramer’s German expedition. The most commonly climbed route is the southeast ridge.
Watch below as climbers at lakeside bivy nearly get hit by a massive falling rock. A good reminder as we head into spring that rockfall is real and to be weary of where it might come from.
