New 10-Pitch Bolted 5.9 in Nordegg is Starstruck

Nordegg is quickly becoming another rock climbing hub as more multi-pitch and crag routes are added in 2020. Thanks to a handful of local route-developers, big lines are being established that will surely bring crowds from places like Calgary and Edmonton.

Poul Mark, owner of Girth Hitch Guiding, touched base with us about the new 10-pitch bolted 5.9 called Starstruck on a wall they’ve called Freyja. This is an excellent addition to the Canadian Rockies that offers moderate climbing on well-protected terrain.

The pitches break down to 5.7, 5.7, 5.9, 5.9, 5.5, 5.7, 5.9, 5.7, 5.4 and 5.7. The route was was established ground-up by Tim Taylor and Andrew Abel and you can read a detailed route description here.
