Alex Megos Sends a 5.15a as Chris Sharma Weighs In
Sharma talks about his 2010 first ascent as Megos makes the fourth known ascent
Chris Sharma made the first ascent of Samfaina at 5.14d at Margalef in 2010. It was later repeated by Ramon Julian Puigblanque who agreed with the grade, but then Jorge Diaz-Rullo sent it last year suggesting 5.15a.
This year, Alex Megos sent and said, “I’m with Jorge on the grade. Definitely felt harder than the 5.14d’s here. Looks like I need to do my homework in endurance training again. I managed to climb past the crux of Samfaina six times and got so pumped in the easier bit at the end.”
