Canadians Heading to Chamonix World Cup 2017
The IFSC 2017 Chamonix Lead World Cup will take place on July 12 and 13 in the climbing capital of France.
A number of Canadians are heading to the popular event. For the Females: Alannah Yip, Becca Frangos and Em Pellerin. And for the Males: Elan Jonas McRae, Kyle Murdoch, Sean McColl and Jj Mah. Full start list here.
Chamonix, France, is a staple in the IFSC World Cup series, having hosted events since the beginning of the IFSC. This year, a new cast of world-class sport climbing athletes head to the renowned mountain village for a rematch in Lead.
The start lists in Lead are loaded with big-name athletes, both young and veteran climbers looking to shine on the world stage.
Eight of the top-10 women and seven of the top-10 men in the world Lead rankings will tie-in this month, including 2016 season champions Janja Garnbret and Domen Skofic of Slovenia. (Watch 2016 highlights below)
A number of rising stars will join them, among whom are French national champion Nolwenn Arc and youth world champion Sam Avezou.
For Switzerland, Anne-Sophie Koller and Sascha Lehmann return to Villars after a year of strong performances. Also keep an eye on youth world champion Margo Hayes, competing in her first IFSC Lead World Cup in Chamonix. Visit the event info sheet here.
