Team Canada Heading to China for Ice Worlds

The next UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup is in Hohhot, China, near the border of Mongolia.

Recent Ouray Ice Fest champion Nathan Kutcher will be joining the team with his partner Rebecca Lewis.

David Bouffard, Gord McArthur, Rhebergen Ineke and Noah Beek have already competed at two World Cups this year, one in Saas Fee and one in Rabenstein.

Beek is the only Canadian to make Semis and finished the last comp in 17th.

“The semis route was great, but a lot tougher than last year’s one,” said Beek, who added that most of Team Canad is sick with colds.

“So far on this trip, I’ve learned so far to trust in my instincts while climbing,” said Beek, a 21-year-old B.C.-based climber who has been coached by McArthur over the past few years.
