The first USA National Cup series event took place at Stone Age Climbing Gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend, at the Yank-N-Yard event.
Alex Puccio and Nathaniel Coleman climbed their way to first places.
Results are in! It was a great fight between Alex Puccio (1st), Brooke Raboutou (2nd), and Kyra Condie (3rd) at the Yank-N-Yard. Alex pulled through, topping the last problem after a few attempts, but keeping the tension high throughout. Nathaniel Coleman and Kai Lightner were tied for 1st going into Finals but Nathaniel ended up taking the win, and it was Austin Geiman and Ben Hanna grabbing the remaining podium spots, moving up, very impressively, to 2nd and 3rd, from 7th and 8th in the Qualification. Thanks to @stoneagegym for hosting the first National Cup Series event. Congrats to all competitors and see you at the Battle in the Bay in a few weeks! #usacbouldering #roadtoboulderingnationals #nationalcupseties #stoneageclimbinggym #climbing #bouldering 📸: @greg_mionske
Six weeks after the Youth World Championships, and lots of climbing, Kai Lightner went to the doctors and discovered he had torn ligaments and a bone chip in his hands. He competed anyway and finished in seventh.
