50 Classic Ice Climbs of Western Canada

Some of North America's best ice routes have been collected in a new book called Northern Ice West

A new book is available that highlights 50 of the most classic ice climbs of western Canada, with an equal number being in BC and Alberta. It’s called Northern Ice West: 50 Classic Ice Climbs of Western Canada – visit here to order.

There’s information about avalanches, which was proofed by a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, and the known avalanche danger rating is listed with each ice climb. Learn more about avalanches and ice climbing here. Published by Stoked Books and printed on demand by Blurb, it’s the first of a series of similar books, which will include Northern Ice East, American Ice, Northern Stone, American Stone and more.

The dimensions are 5 x 8 inches (13 x 20 cm) and it’s 60 pages long. There’s a brief intro, map and brief write-ups for each climb, along with some route and location beta. It’s not really a guidebook, but more a collection of routes in one place that create a fun tick-list.
