Alex Fricker Makes Rare Ascent of Rockies 5.14

Alex Fricker is one of Alberta’s top comp climbers and he’s reported that he’s made a rare ascent of Fit Bird Direct 5.14a in Echo Canyon above Canmore in the Rockies.

Fricker sent his first 5.14a in October 2017 on his birthday with a tick of Geminis in Rodellar, Spain and sent another a few weeks later with Mal de Isla.

Fit Bird Direct was first climbed by Evan Hau and repeated by Sonnie Trotter, Kevin Wilson, Josh Muller and possibly others.

Fricker is fresh off placing second in the Alberta Lead Championships behind Josh Muller at Wilson Centre.

In the past, Fricker has won the Youth Bouldering National Championships and competed at the Youth World Championships and Arco Rock Masters.
