Breaking News: Solveig Korherr Sends Titan 5.14a in Ontario

The top German climber who's visiting Ontario had previously sent a number of 5.14+ sport routes

German climber Solveig Korherr has just sent Titan 5.14a at Lion’s Head. Earlier this year, she climbed her first 5.14d with La cabane au Canada at Rawyl in Switzerland.

The 23-year-old had previously climbed three 5.14c lines with Southern Smoke Direct and Lucifer at Red River Gorge in November 2019, and La cabane au Paradis at Rawly in August 2020. The latter shares the start with La cabane au Canada.

Solveig, who is from Steißlingen in Germany, was introduced to climbing by her father when she was six. She started competing when she was nine and at 11 started training with a coach in Switzerland. Then 2014 marked a milestone as one of her best competition years, where she won the German Lead Cup and made the finals at the European Youth Cup in Imst. The following year she qualified for the German National Team.

Titan, which was first climbed by Sonnie Trotter as the first 5.14 in Ontario, and has been climbed by a number of local and visiting climbers. The sustained limestone line is found on Titan Wall, which hosts some of the longest and most impressive routes at the cliff. The wall has easy access and a good concentration of hard routes.

Lion’s Head has some of the best technical rock climbing in eastern Canada with high quality rock, big exposure and great views of Georgian Bay.

We’ve reached out to Korherr to discuss her send, Titan and her plans for the fall.
