Cedar Wright Releases Old Conversation with American Soloist Brad Gobright

Cedar Wright has just released footage of a conversation that he had with Gobright, a highly accomplished climber who died in 2019

In a newly released video from Cedar Wright, we get a look at some old footage featuring Wright and Brad Gobright talking about free-soloing, dirtbag life and other climbing-related things.

“Long Live Brad Gobright,” Wright shared with the video. “I was cleaning out some hard drives and stumbled upon an interview I shot with Brad about a year after we filmed Safety 3rd, and only a couple months before he passed in a climbing accident.”

Gobright was a leading American climber at the time of his death in 2019. While he was known for his bold free-solos, such as making the first one of Hairstyles and Attitudes 5.12c in Eldorado Canyon, he was also known for his big wall ascents, such as the first free ascent of The Heart Route VI 5.13b on El Cap and Golden Gate VI 5.13a in 16.5 hours.

“At the time I shot this I was thinking of starting a ‘talk show’ and then I got sidetracked by other adventures and completely forgot this footage existed,” said Wright. “It was bittersweet to revisit this interview, but I’m excited to release it to the world and watching it reinforced and reminded me of the fact that Brad was just a salt of the earth good dude, and truly a world class friend and climber.”
