Feb 14, 2011 – Petzl Issues Warning On Dangerous Counterfeit Gear

Petzl has issued a warning about counterfeit versions of its popular Croll ascender, Attache belay biner, Ascencion ascender and Rescue pulley. The counterfeit products look very similar to the original Petzl gear but do not meet any Petzl, UIAA or CE safety standards. When tested, all the imitation gear broke at dangerously low strength-ratings. More details here and here.
