Fundraiser For Climbing Wall in Honour of Lucas Chabot

The Albertan climber passed away after suffering heart failure at a Calgary-based climbing competition on Nov. 3

Last week, Alberta climber Lucas Chabot, 21, passed away at Rockyview General Hospital after suffering heart failure during a competition in Calgary. It was his brother Tanner’s birthday.

There is currently a fundraiser to raise money so that Lucas’s home climbing gym, Trailhead, in Red Deer can build a new climbing gym in his honour. “Lucas worked there, in different capacities, up until his passing,” notes the GoFundMe page. “Our family is so grateful that Lucas found his second family at Trailhead. You could not find a more supportive, wholesome and fun loving group of people.”

Lucas’s family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made for a new climbing wall that will be constructed in the future at Trailhead Climbing + Fitness. “This was Lucas’ dream for the benefit of the Climbing Community and City/County of Red Deer.” To make a donation and to find out more about Lucas, visit here.
