Javier Aguilar is Blind and Just Sent 5.12d
The champion climber ticked the grade after giving it 10 tries on top-rope
Javier Aguilar just climbed To Su Puta Madre a Caballo 5.12d in Los Cahorros, Spain. His the first totally blind climber to send the grade on record.
According to Christopher Schafenacker who wrote about the climb for Rock & Ice here, “Aguilar first worked To Su Puta Madre a Caballo on top rope, needing just 10 attempts to memorize the beta.”
Aguilar made the podium at the 2018 and 2019 Paraclimbing World Cup and is a champion swimmer. He had previously climbed 5.12b/c. He was belayed by Migue Sancho. Aguilar talked about his send on the Spanish-language podcast Rock & Joy, listen below.
