Laura Rogora Onsights 5.14a and 5.14b

Ajo Crudo is her first onsight of the grade, while Los Lunnis is her fourth 5.14a onsight

Italian climber Laura Rogora just had a solid visit to Cicera, Spain, where she made her first onsight of a 5.14b with Ajo Crudo. She also onsighted 5.14a with Los Lunnis.

“I started climbing [Ajo Crudo] with the idea of checking the moves,” Rogora said. “I have not climbed on rock for a long time and there were no quickdraws on the wall. But when I started I felt well and decided to give it a try, and move by move, I unexpectedly made it to the top. The line is super nice and the route was totally my style, not really overhanging with crimps and partial rest between the boulders.”

Rogora has long been one of the world’s top climbers for her age, she climbed her first 5.14b at age 13 with Ciccio Formaggio in Italy, and her first 5.14d when she was 14. Also when she was 14, she onsighted 5.13b, and previous to Los Lunnis, she had onsighted three 5.14a sport routes. She has also climbed nearly two dozen routes from 5.14+ to 5.15-. In 2021, she repeated Erobor 5.15b, and she made the second ascent of Pure Dreaming Plus 5.15a.

Rogora has been busy competing at World Cups and World Championships this summer, hoping to qualify for the Olympics. Her best finish of the year came at the Bern World Championships on Aug. 12 when she finished seventh in Women’s Lead.
