Nov 10, 2010 – Asia Joins Ice Climbing World Cup Circuit – Will North America Follow?

This winter, Asia will host its first World Cup ice climbing event. The comp in will be held in Chongsong, Korea and represents the first time a ice climbing World Cup comp has been held outside of Europe. The UIAA is very interested in expanding its circuit and has targeted Asia and North America as viable regions for future events.

During a recent interview with the UIAA, Canada’s Dave Dornian (the newest member of the UIAA Ice Climbing Commission) explored the challenges the UIAA might face with bringing World Cup ice climbing comps to North America.  More details here.
