During a recent one week vacation in Spain, Steve McClure joined and elite climbing club by onsighting a 30m long route called Amistad 8c (5.14b) in Rodellar. Although the 8c onsight was the highlight of the trip McClure also managed to accumulate an impressive tick list that also included an 8c (5.14b) redpoint, an 8b+ (5.14a) onsight, an 8b+ (5.14a) redpoint, two 8b (5.13d) onsights, five 8a+ (5.13c) onsights and an 8a (5.13b) onsight. McClure’s accomplishments are even more impressive when considering that unlike many professional climbers, he has a full time job working 40 to 50 hours per week. More details here.
