Rare Repeat of Sandbagged Utah Sport Climb
Rollin Grimmett completes one of only a few sends to this steep Big Cottonwood test-piece
Almost 20 years after its first ascent by legend Jonny Woodward in 1995 and a second by hardman Jame Litz, Dog Eat Dog 5.14a sat without another ascent for years.
“Celebrate local projects with Salt Lake climber Rollin Grimmett, as he takes on Big Cottonwood’s biggest sandbag,” said filmmaker Jon Vickers. “Rain, sun or otherwise, Rollin stays psyched and focused; and having a small band of friends to support certainly helps.”
Grimmett said it took him upwards of 30 attempts over eight sessions, noting that he suggested an upgraded from 5.13d to 5.14a.
