Seb Bouin Climbs Another New 5.15b

After making the first ascent of Les Rois du Lithium, he hints there's another harder project at the same crag

Seb Bouin has made the first ascent of Les Rois du Lithium 5.15b at Pic Saint Loup in France. The hard sport climb adds to his growing list of 5.15 ascents, many of which have been first ascents.

“When I bolted it, I couldn’t imagine there will be so much perfect holds,” Bouin said. “And when I first tried it, I was amazed by the moves and the line.” He added that it’s one of his favourite climbs at the grade. “There is another hard and inspiring project in Pic Saint Loup: The Wolf Kingdom project,” he said. “It will be harder than Les Rois du Lithium.”

In 2023, he made the first ascents of Rei De Bering 5.15a, Ariégeois Cœur Loyal 5.15b and Jamming Destruction. After Adam Ondra, Bouin is one of the most accomplished 5.15 sport climbers to date.

In 2022, he repeated Change 5.15c, and made the first ascents of DNA 5.15d, Nordic Marathon 5.15b/c and Suprême Jumbo Love 5.15c. Before 2022, Bouin had made first ascents of several hard routes, many of which are yet to be repeated, including La Rage d’Adam 5.15b/c, Beyond 5.15b/c and La Cote d’Usure 5.15a. In 2019, he repeated Move 5.15b/c, first climbed by Adam Ondra.
