September 21, 2010 – Toit de Ben 5.13a in Val David Sees First Female Send

Nathalie Malo has bagged First Female Send (FFS) of the challenging roof crack Toit de Ben 5.13a in Val David. Malo bagged the route on September 10 and placed all her gear on lead.

Nathalie Malo has bagged First Female Send (FFS) of the challenging roof crack Toit de Ben 5.13a in Val David. Malo bagged the route on September 10 and placed all her gear on lead. Toit de Ben was originally an old aid route first climbed by Bernard Poisson and Claude Lavallée in 1958 with the First Free Ascent (FFA) going to Francois Roy in 1987. Quebec crackmaster Jean-Pierre Ouellet was the first person to repeat the route without any preplaced gear.
