This F-Bomb Filled Video Shows Awesome New V12 in Eastern Canada

Ben Smith makes the first ascent of a hard new problem on a recently discovered boulder

“I’ve surgically grafted f##kin’ hockey tape to my finger and that somehow magically didn’t rip off,” Ben Smith said after the first ascent of Excession on the first hard boulder to be found in Nova Scotia in over a decade.

Nova Scotia climbing history goes back decades and there are dozens of hard problems that have been climbed during that time. MoBeta is a great source of information with regular blog posts and videos of East Coast bouldering.

Ben Smith is one of Nova Scotia’s top climbers. Back in 2016, he established Nova Scotia’s first V14 with Physical Graffiti and the province’s first 5.14 with The Trickle Down. To start 2017, Smith ticked another hard problem he called Full Clip V13/14 in Nova Scotia. Other hard problems in the province include Splinter V13, Kodiak V13, Requiem V13, Gun Control V13 and Pooh Bear V13.

Watch the first ascent of Excession in the video below, just a heads up that there’s no holding back when it comes to F-bombs.
