Watch New Interview with Legend Didier Berthod

The Swiss climber was once pushing the limits of trad climbing

Didier Berthod is a crack climbing legend and was an inspiration to many back in the early 2000’s. Most will remember him from the famous film First Ascent, where he makes the first ascent of Greenspit on trad gear (a previously bolted steep roof crack in Orco Valley) and goes for the FA of Cobra Crack with Sonnie Trotter in Squamish.

Shortly after the film First Ascent, Berthod joined a monastery and quit climbing. No one heard from him for 13 years and to us and a lot of others he remained a climbing mystery that we could only watch on screen, idolize and aspire too.

Now Didier is back climbing and Tom Randall with the Wide Boyz got the privilege of speaking to him about the last 13 years, his passion for climbing, and what the future holds.
