Watch Wild Alex Honnold Freerider Free-Solo Trailer

From award-winning documentary filmmaker E. Chai Vasarhelyi and world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, comes Free Solo.

The film is a stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: to free-solo a route on El Capitan.

The route Honnold chose to free-solo was Freerider, a 30-pitch 5.13a, which he accomplished in three hours and 56 minutes.

When asked what he’ll remember most about his bold climb, Honnold said, “The Monster was one of the best because you feel completely safe and, without a harness on, it felt really easy there. I bet that’s the fastest the Monster has ever been climbed. I was in there like ‘this is so cruiser’, having a great time.

“And from the round table to the summit it was celebratory climbing. It was like taking a victory lap. I was karate chopping hand jams, just flying up.”
