We Talk to Alex Honnold About Arctic Ascent

A new documentary is about to drop on National Geographic that features Alex Honnold and Hazel Findlay climbing new big walls in Greenland

In summer 2022, Alex Honnold and Hazel Findlay travelled to Greenland to attempt a 1,150-metre arctic big wall on Ingmikortilaq. They were joined by glaciologist Dr. Heïdi Sevestre, Greenlandic guide Adam Kjeldsen, adventurer Aldo Kane, and fellow climber Mikey Schaefer.

In the end they climbed two new routes and the expedition was turned into a National Geographic documentary that will air in February. We have a 10-page interview with Honnold about his and Findlay’s Greenland climbs that will appear in the February/March issue of Gripped magazine.

“And then finally I’d go way off to one side and find two shitty pieces of gear and then one other shitty piece off to the side and I’d be like, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll belay off my harness and sit here backed up off all this stuff,'” Honnold said.
