What to Bring Ice Climbing for East Coast Winter

Here’s a short video showing a good range of things to carry for a day of ice climbing winter routes in the eastern hills of North America.

“I’ll add a little rock gear for specific climbs, a couple more screws for bigger routes at Willoughby, but this is pretty standard for a day of ice climbing below treeline.”

A typical rack for pure ice climbing is specialized and unlike any of the other racks, it’s designed to cope primarily with one medium. However, bringing some rock gear along just in case has never hurt.
