Earthday Dome is a Climbing Area in the USA

A cool rock feature to check out, plus some reminders on how to reduce our impacts at crags

Earthday Dome is a rock formation found in the Alabama Hills of the Sierra Nevada Range, California. The dome is in a remote corner of the range near other formations known as Munge Dome, Candy Store, Alabama Dome and Temple of Kali.

Earthday Dome has some fun all-bolted slab climbs, including Have a Slabulous Day 5.8, Earthday is Earthday 5.9, Green Peace and Greenbacks 5.7 and a fun 5.6 called Seemingly Cool where you climb solid plates to the top. You can find more information about these routes on Mountain Project here.

With today being Earth Day and this year’s message being that people should use less plastics, it’s a good time to remind climbers of an important rule: do not leave litter of any kind. Pack out small items like finger tape, labels and tags from your new climbing gear, cigarette butts, and even fruit peels.

Also, know how to dispose of human waste: even before the influx of new climbers, areas had been closed because of inconsiderate, and disgusting practices of relieving oneself at the crag. Use the facilities before you come to the crag, and if you have to go, know the leave-no-trace etiquette that applies to your area. The outdoor environment is fragile, so treat it with care.
