Seb Berthe Climbing a 5.15a Called Beyond

A new video featuring his January ascent was just released, check it out below

Earlier this year, Belgian climber Seb Berthe sent his third 5.15a with Beyond at Pic Saint Loup, France, in 13 sessions. The video featuring Berthe’s send just dropped, watch it below.

Berthe’s send was the third ascent of Beyond and after his redpoint he said, “Beyond is probably one of the best of this grade in France and even in Europe: huge overhang, big dropknees, dynos, kneebars, amazing tufas.”

When asked what his favourite climbing experience to date has been, he said, “My adventure crossing the Atlantic sailing from Europe to America in order to attempt the famous Dawn Wall is probably my biggest experience so far. I learnt so much about myself, social relationships, dealing with others, learning patience, dealing with failure, I came back from this trip way stronger, and most of all, wiser.” Read more about this Dawn Wall attempt here.

Last fall, Berthe and Siebe Vanhee made quick work of a famous 15-pitch 5.14 and suggested a downgrade – read about it here. In 2019, Berthe became the seventh climber to free The Nose in Yosemite – read about it here.
