31-Hour Push Opens New Patagonia Route

Chilean climbers Felipe Bishara and Christian Barra Munoz have climbed a new route on the unclimbed southeast face of Cerro Almirante Nieto in Torries del Paine, Patagonia.
They followed a long ramp for 10 pitches and then climbed seep mixed terrain for another eight.
They reached the summit at 2 a.m. and returned back to the car by 9 a.m. after a 31-hour push.
They called their new 1,300-metre route Linea de Libertad in memory of Cristobal Bizzarri.
Almirante Nieto is a magnificent 2,670-metre peak located in South Chile. It offers two peaks to climb, the summit to the east is the highest one. There are a number of rock routes up the big face below the western peak.
