A Must-Climb Three-Pitch B.C. 5.10

40 oz to Freedom is a must-climb route above Elbow Lake in the Fraser Valley

North of Chilliwack in B.C. is a small body of water called Elbow Lake with a tall cliff above it with around 50 rock climbs, some bolted and some trad. The crag is also called Elbow Lake.

The routes range from 5.8 to 5.13a, with a few standing out as classics, such as First Half 5.10c, Glideslope 5.11c and Huckers Huck 5.12b. One of the most-climbed routes is 40 oz to Freedom, a three-pitch 5.10c that climbs a striking line high above the lake.

While there is a small guidebook to the area in the works, there is currently some beta found online at The Crag here and UK Climbing here. To get to Elbow lake, follow Chehalis Forest Service Rd. off Highway 7 for a few minutes. Follow Fraser Valley Climbing Society below for more cool climbs from the area.
