Alex Megos Climbs 10 Routes 5.13d and Above in a Day

The German climber spends a day climbing old-school classics in his local area of Frankenjura

Alex Megos recently spent a “training day” e-biking around his home climbing area of Frankenjura. His goal for the day was to climb 10 routes UIAA grade X (5.13d) and above in under 10 hours. He ended up climbing one 5.14a/b, four 5.14a’s, and five 5.13d’s. All the routes he climbed are well-regarded as stout, old-school Frankenjura classics, ranging from crimpy vert faces to overhanging pocket lines.

The 10 routes Megos ticked in this mind-blowing marathon of hard climbing include:

  • Intercooler 5.14a/b
  • Desaster 5.14a
  • Small Talk 5.14a
  • Father and Son 5.14a
  • Quäl dich du Sau 5.14a
  • Subway 5.13d
  • Riesenslalom Direkt 5.13d
  • Metero 5.13d
  • Plan B 5.13d
  • Linie 1 5.13d
