Jorge Díaz-Rullo Climbing Bibliographie 5.15c

The Alex Megos line in Céüse was an epic long-term project for Díaz-Rullo, and arguably his hardest route to date

On October 16 last year, Spanish climber Jorge Díaz-Rullo sent Bibliographie 5.15c (9b+) in Céüse, France. The route was a true mental and physical battle. Between the summer of 2021 and his eventual send in October 2023, Díaz-Rullo spent around 60 sessions on the line – his longest successful project to date. A new film was just released of Díaz-Rullo’s Bibliographie ascent, which you can view below.

“After many years of sacrifice, motivation, and dedication, I was able to realize one of the most important projects in the history of my career,” said Díaz-Rullo on Instagram about Bibliographie. “It was a very tough path where I pushed myself to the limit in every way, but it was also a very beautiful process where I learned to dream and believe in myself, because victory only appears after many defeats .”

Alex Megos made the first ascent of the Bibliographie in August 2020, originally grading it 5.15d. The route saw its second ascent a little over a year later from Stefano Ghisolfi. He found some new beta and instead suggested a grade 5.15c, which Megos agreed with. Sean Bailey sent the route a month later in September 2021 and then Seb Bouin made the fourth ascent in June 2023. Díaz-Rullo’s ascent was the fifth.

In 2023, Díaz-Rullo had the best climbing year of his life. In February, he made the first ascent of his first-ever 5.15c, Mejorando la Samfaina in Margalef. The following month he repeated Megos’ The Full Journey 5.15b, also in Margalef. Seven months later, he bagged his second 5.15c with Bibliographie. Díaz-Rullo kicked off 2024 strong, sending three hard routes over four days in early January – a 5.14d/15a, a 5.14d, and a first-go 5.14c. Last month, he made the third ascent of Chris Sharma’s Sleeping Lion, agreeing with Megos’ grade assessment of 5.15b.
