Will Gadd Rides a Falling Ice Pillar, Then Climbs the M8
See what the top ice climber brings to the crag and watch as he gets back on a hard climb mixed climb after a big fall

Will Gadd has been pushing ice and mixed climbing around the world for the past three decades. His list of first ascents and hard repeats includes some of the most difficult bolted mixed climbs in North America and Europe.
In this video, he heads to Roman Candle M8 in Hyalite Canyon, Montana. On his first attempt, the hanging pillar snaps and sends him down onto the previous bolt.
“How to ride a falling icicle,” said Gadd. “On this day I pushed too hard. This is all about doing enough things right so that when they go wrong you still have a chance to walk away. Don’t do this!”
