Watch Tommy Caldwell Send New Alpine 5.13 in B.C.

In 2011, Tommy Caldwell made the first free ascent of Northern Shield 5.13b above the Durrand Glacier in the Selkirk Mountains near Revelstoke, B.C.

Caldwell was invited to the area by Ruedi Beglinger who owns a number of huts. The area is popular in winter, but has dozens of bolted alpine granite routes. See more here.
