Honnold and Caldwell Repeat 15-Pitch 5.13-

All Hooked Up was first climbed in 2022 by Jesse Huey and Matt Segal. This is the second ascent

In summer 2022, Matt Segal and Jesse Huey made the first ascent of All Hooked Up, a 15-pitch 5.13 on the famous Mount Hooker. The route has two different finishes, with the Left Hook and Right Hook, the latter including a 5.13+ pitch. Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell have made the second ascent.

After their climb, Segal said, “We spent two days on the wall sending through all the crux pitches of the left variation. It was an epic push including three pitches of 5.13 and a stack of 5.12s. Jesse absolutely crushed, I’ve never seen him dig so deep and was so special to watch. Tension was so high on each technical crux, but we fortunately had Tim Kemple there shooting photos and making light of the situation.”

Segal and Huey had worked on the route over a few years. Huey has made several trips to the Winds over the past decade, he and Maury Birdwell made the first free ascent of Original Sin 5.12+ on Mount Hooker in 2017 – read about it here. And Caldwell has also visited the area several times, in 2016 he and Adam Stack made a speedy ascent of a big route on Hooker – read about it here.

Honnold and Caldwell are currently cycling thousands of kilometres from Colorado to Alaska – read about their trip here.
