Keegan Sullivan has climbed Freedom Fries V10 at eight years old at Grayson Highland in Virginia.

The problem was put up by Dan Horne in July, 2014 on and starts on “two crimps that make up a face in the rock with a cobble being the nose and a flake the mouth,” as stated in the description.

Keegan has been climbing since he was four years old and has competed at Youth Bouldering Nationals the last two years as a seven- and eight-year-old in the 11-and-under division.

Keegan’s two younger siblings, six-year-old Killian and five-year-old Lochlann also climb.

Last year, Keegan placed 16th overall, but he’s more focused on outdoor climbing.

“He has now sent three V9s and his first V10 (and many between V5 and V8),” said Keegan’s dad Brandon.

“His V10 send actually comes several months younger than Ashima Shiraishi’s, but I fully understand that Power of Silence is a classic line, as opposed to Freedom Fries.”

Keegan has also competed in the Triple Crown Bouldering Series the last two years. In 2016, he was third at Hound Ears, first at Stone Fort, first at Horse Pens, and first overall.

In 2017, he swept all three individual competitions and the overall. This was competing in the 12-and-under division.

“He is a very happy kid and loves being outdoors,” said Brandon.

This week, Keegan put up a new line on the Beast Boulder at Grayson Highlands and called it Man Child Right V6/7.
