Solveig Korherr Climbs Her Eighth 5.14+

Shortly after onsighting a 5.14a, the strong German climber sent a popular 5.14d and gives it a grade of 5.14c

Solveig Korherr has climbed Esclatamasters in Spain, a climb that is often given 5.14d, but one that Korherr gave a personal grade of 5.14c.

“Probably one of the best lines I have climbed on limestone so far,” 25-year-old Korherr reported at 8a.nu. “Having two completely different climbing styles combined in one route on such high-quality rock makes it very unique. Grade-wise, it felt more on the 8c+ [5.14c] side to me. Eight tries over five days.”

Korherr has had a strong start to the year, with an onsight of Humildes pa Casa 5.14a and a repeat of the famous Mind Control 5.14b. “It feels so surreal at the moment that I must be in one of the best shapes of my life,” she said on social media. “I guess, I’ve been adapting very well to the rock in recent weeks, and my psych seems endless right now.”

Solveig was introduced to climbing by her father when she was six. She started competing when she was nine and at 11 started training with a coach in Switzerland. Then 2014 marked a milestone as one of her best competition years, where she won the German Lead Cup and made the finals at the European Youth Cup in Imst. The following year she qualified for the German National Team. In fall 2021, she visited North America and made a quick repeat of Titan 5.14a at Lion’s Head in Ontario – watch her send here. She then travelled to Red River Gorge where she climbed three 5.14s in eight days, read about her trip here. In 2022, she climbed her second 5.14d with Jungfraumarathon.
