Adam Ondra Boulders Limestone in Hell

The obscure Norwegian crag contains a bunch of sport lines as well as some hard boulder problems

In May, on his way back home to train for the World Cups after a trip in Flatanger, Adam Ondra stopped in Hell, Norway for some limestone bouldering. The Hell crag near the Trondheim airport is by no means world-class, but it is a unique climbing area for Scandinavia, a region that has very little limestone rock climbing. Ondra had visited the crag years ago and established some of its hardest sport climbs, from 5.14d to 5.15a.

The Hell crag also sports a few drop-off boulder problems, the most difficult being Mini V13 (8B). Ondra just released a video of his day of bouldering in Hell, trying many of the crags hardest problems. He sent Mini V13 and flashed Monoiden V12. He was unable to finish up The Body Says Yes V12 and Eat Rich V11 due to skin conditions. To finish off the day, he got the “retro onsight” of Tro Pa Mirakler 5.14a, a route he redpointed back in 2015.

You can watch Ondra’s day in Hell in the video below. After arriving home from Norway, he made his 2023 World Cup debut at the bouldering event Prague on June 4, earning silver. In Brixen a week later, he came in 19th. He’s competing in the Lead World Cup in Villars this weekend after placing first in today’s qualifying round.
